Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information

What is sensitive personal information?

Under CPRA §1798.140(ae), sensitive personal information includes categories such as:

• Precise geolocation
• Financial account numbers, debit or credit card numbers (with access codes)
• Race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or union membership
• Contents of mail, email, and text messages (where not the intended recipient)
• Genetic data, biometric information, health data, and sex life/orientation data

What we currently collect

Precise geolocation is the only CPRA sensitive category the App handles, it is optional, and it never leaves your device. Here is each category in turn:

• Precise geolocation — optional, on-device only. If you grant the "When in use" location permission, the App captures your location at the moment you scan a receipt, to work out which shop the slip came from and to let you set or correct that shop on a map. Those coordinates are stored on your device, against that scan: they are not uploaded to our servers, and we do not use them to profile you or to infer anything about you. Where you have opted in to share price data, the location attached to an observation is first reduced to an approximate area of roughly 1 km.
• Financial account information: we do not collect or store banking details, account numbers, or payment card numbers. Payment request messages contain only a plain amount and description.
• Race, ethnicity, health, biometric, message contents, and other SPI categories: not collected in the current version of the App.

Because we do not use precise geolocation for anything beyond performing the service you asked for — identifying the shop on the receipt in front of you — CPRA's right to limit is already satisfied by default. You can go further at any time using the controls below.

How to limit or withdraw it

• Turn location off entirely: iOS Settings → CountaBill → Location → Never. Receipt scanning continues to work; you set the shop yourself instead.
• Stop sharing price data: in the App, Settings > Data & Privacy. This is off unless you turned it on.
• Delete what is already stored: deleting a receipt removes the location held against it, and Profile > Delete account & data removes everything, on the device and in the cloud.
