Why this app was built
MyBudget was built out of a very specific frustration: most budgeting apps assume you have the patience to manually enter every transaction, every day. In reality, nobody does.
The result is that most people start tracking their spending, fall behind for a few days, and give up — left with a vague sense that "money is going somewhere" but no clear picture of where.
"I built this because I wanted an app that does the work for me. Scan a receipt,
done. Import a statement, done. Not an app I have to feed manually every day
just to get the basics right."
There is also a South African angle. Most budgeting apps are designed for US or UK users — they do not understand Rand amounts, local banks like Standard Bank and FNB, or South African stores like Checkers, Pick n Pay, and Woolworths. MyBudget is built specifically for South African users and the realities of managing money in South Africa.
